23 years of life together

23 years ago today ~ at sunset ~ my life course was altered with a simple smile and statement of "Welcome to camp."

I had no idea in the moment just how profoundly that greeting would change my life.

I couldn't have predicted the grand adventures I'd later go on with this guy by my side.

I didn't see the heartache we'd have together.

Or that we'd be the tired, occasionally slightly frazzled, often clueless feeling, parents of half a dozen pretty stupendously awesome kids.

And I'm certain that I never saw spending our anniversary of meeting side by side at our son's cardiac ICU bed, cheering him on in each tiny step of recovery.

But then maybe I should have. After all, starting that day we were pretty much side by side for the rest of the summer. It was as if even in the very beginning we realized we were better together
I love you adventure partner. I'm so thankful God led our paths to cross on the front porch of the Camp Loy White lodge all those years ago!
