Sugar rush

What it is about cupcakes? They really are amazing vehicles of happiness.

Darby blows out the candles on her fourth birthday...

and then happily contemplates the sweet treat that awaits!

Little brother Henry shows that he is all business in his cupcake consumption!

I think here he may have even uttered, "I love you." to his cupcake.

Lottie gets her frosting on!

Caleb gets a taste

and gets lost in sweet thoughts.

Judging from the look in her eye (I cropped this one down ~ it was actually a full table shot to show Darby taking the candles out of her cupcake and all her friends who were there) I should have taken pictures of Kylie enjoying her frosted treat first. By the time I got done with the others, she was finished and back in the play area.

But Thursday when Kylie woke up from her nap, she said, "Mommy, can we cook something together?"

Thinking that was a nice bit of bonding time for us, I answered, "Sure, what do you want to make?"

And she said ~ without hesitation ~ "Pancakes."

Thinking that was sorta strange, but cooking time for us none-the-less, I started to get the pancake mix out when she said, "No mommy, THOSE pancakes!" and pointed to the strawberry cake mix box.

And so we made them. Sweet time in the kitchen together. These little moments, they are what life is made of.

Silly me, I shoulda known she wanted strawberry CUPcakes...

Katie used to call them concakes! A mix between pancakes and those beloved cupcakes!

Sweet! I so wish we could all celebrate birthdays together, but I have some ideas cooking for another group birthday party at our next reunion.

And I love that last picture, too!

I want strawberry "pancakes", too.
I miss my little munchkins so much.
Too much of their lives are flying by without me. The pictures are adorable.
