In the time that Ian and I have known each other (13+ years now), I'd guess we've visited our nation's capital no less than 50 times. Like or lump the current administration (our relationship has seen three different presidents in office) I still get somewhat of an excited rush every time we walk onto the National Mall. And while some of the sights are "old hat" to us (we're now starting to visit some of the things we haven't seen together since we first started dating) it is always fun to revisit with friends. To finish off our reunion weekend we had the opportunity to do just that with both Caroline's and Grace's families ~ and we got to take Caleb to DC for the very first time.
My three year old showing me he could do what the big boys do! He thought Mickey and Evan were so cool!
The "littles" in front of the National Archives. Caroline's sister Abby had really wanted to see the Declaration of Independence when we were in DC with their family last summer. At that time the line was estimated to be about 2 1/2 hours. Sunday we walked right in. Guess the weather worked out in our favor after all...
Next stop was a quick run through the American History Museum. Dumbo was one of the biggest hits!
The Dads and the kids in our stroll down the mall.
The Solar Decathlon was going on and of course my big Hokie and my little Hokie had to pause in front of the VT house.
Grace's family ~ Alan & Donna with four of their five, Matt, Becca, Evan and Grace (missing biggest brother Colin whom I hope to meet before too long ~ but what fun it was to get to know Matt, Becca and Evan a little better this trip! They are an awesome bunch!)
Our family ~ can you guess who wasn't being cooperative?
Yeah, it would be this little mischievous one ~ you think he knows he was being a booger? That smile says yes...
Our newest little citizens, doing what they do best!

And with the backdrop, who could resist a few family photos? I'm including both other families because we are blessed to consider them as part of our extended family!

Love the pictures.... I hope to go and visit DC in the spring we have never been. Have been wanting to take the kids for years now.
Looks like it was SO fun!! Great pics!!
I was just there! My brother and his family took me and the kids into the capital to see the Smithsonians. The last time I was in DC, I was with YOU!!! It brought back a lot of memories of the leadership conference, Professor Bob, and all my Elon friends! Looks like you had fun!
Love that last photo! They are all so precious!

Great pix! You look great too, your hard work is paying off.
I've been to DC a bunch but never with Dave. Maybe we'll take Noah this summer.

What fun! I would love to visit our DC someday. Ah, someday. I love Caleb's spunky personality!
