Hangin' at the hotel

Originally our plans for this afternoon included going into downtown DC to catch a museum and then dinner. But we were barely defrosted by the time we rode the 30 minutes back to the hotel, so we decided to scrap those plans!

The new plan involved the daddies hanging with napping kiddos (in our room a little football was watched before sleep)while the mommies sat around the fireplace in the lobby, sipping cups of coffee and discussing upcoming adoptions and dreams of further ones. It was a real treat for me to be able to sit and have real discussion with three women whom I value dearly as friends without worrying if my two kiddos were causing trouble.

After a little over an hour, the elevator doors opened and bursts of laughter erupted, breaking the quietness that was our conversation. The Daddies had arrived with swimsuit clad youngsters ready for a dip in the pool!

Best we could do with the four girls still around...

Apparently whatever misunderstanding these two had earlier was over!
Mickey, Grace, Caroline, Caleb, Evan, Kylie, & Lottie
Seven of the nine kids between our four families (that attended ~ Grace has one brother in college and Caroline has two sisters that couldn't miss high school and marching band).

And with the rain still falling, we decided to scratch going out for dinner and order pizza instead. Six large pizzas and three two liter drinks served as dinner for our four families. We took over the lobby and before long, we moms sat around a table continuing conversation from earlier, the dads sat and watched a college football game, and the kids alternated between hiding behind the curtains and sitting around a table chanting, "Bow your heads, bow your heads, bow your heads..." for a pretend blessing.
Serious giggles going on here!

Not a bad evening for $14 a family...

Glad to see all of you had such a wonderful time. I'm not so sure I would have hung in there for the "freezy picnic." That's dedication.
