Our Sunday Silk best

No reason to sport it other than the fact that Kylie wanted to. And whatever Kylie does, then Caleb must do also...

Traffic jam ~ at least wearing their silk provides better photos than them sporting undies and a pull-up!

We had a deliciously slow weekend. Family movie night on Friday, a trip to the kids museum on a rainy Saturday (where I learned why some kids are rude ~ their PARENTS!), church, lunch with friends (where Kylie's sweet friend Darby introduced Kylie to someone by saying, "Dis is Ky-ie, she's my China sister" ~ it was so cute!), naps, adoption fellowship Bible study, and then the "silk fest."

I'm so glad that the sun is supposed to make a debut back in the NC skies tomorrow! I'm amazed how much the gloomy weather effects my mood ~ and that of my children too. One thing for sure, I was NOT cut out to live north of the Arctic Circle where the sun doesn't shine for weeks at a time in winter!

Oh, and several of you asked if I would have thrown the cupcakes out on Kylie's birthday. Ian and I did give up sweets for Lent, so she would have been on pretty dangerous ice. Luckily I was about 99% sure that the thought of her cupcakes being tossed out would bring about a change in behavior and I didn't have to go through with it...

And yes, to make the most moist cupcakes you've ever eaten, simply add one can of pumpkin (the grocery usually has two sizes, use the smaller one) to a Devil's Food Cake mix. Then add about 1/2 of the pumpkin can full of water to get it to a brownie batter type consistency. That's all! Follow the package baking directions and your kiddo too will have a serving of veggies with icing on top. Doesn't get much better!

Quick Kylie funny. You know how if you want to know what you sound like then just listen to your toddler? Last night Kylie told us she needed to use the potty and was rewarded with two jellybeans because we didn't have to remind her to go. When Ian gave her her prize she asked for two for her brother also. (So sweet!) So she gives him one and when he reaches for the second she says, "Did you eat dat one yet? Show me what's in your mouf and when it is all gone you can have dis one too." Then when he opened his mouth to show her that he had indeed swallowed the first one she says, "Good boy! I'm so proud of you!" Guess she listens to us at mealtime ~ we're having "chipmunking" issues...

Chipmunking issues ~ that's really funny.

How nice is it that Kylie is repeating pleasant things? I'm sure my kids wouldn't be able to do that right now. As of this morning they are not allowed to talk to one another until tomorrow afternoon...

Sunshine, please! Yes, it certainly was a dreary weekend. Rain was nearly nonstop. Sounds like it helped to make a special family weekend for you. Kylie and Caleb, you look so nice in your silks. What nice pictures. Kylie, sounds like you are taking very good care of your little brother. Wouldn't want him to choke on too many jelly beans.
Love you, LaoLao Shultz

Praise God for a slow weekend every now and then. Even if it's brought on by the rain :0)
