Getting "back on the wagon"

Today was one of those, "Let's celebrate that the sun is shining and that it is warm enough to go barefoot outside!" kind of days. When I got home from preschool Kylie was ready for her nap. That gave me time to load up some stuff that's been sitting in the corner of our room destined for Goodwill (filled the back of the Highlander) for months now. Then I put on some gym shorts and a t-shirt and gave our new elliptical machine (thank you Federal Tax Refund!) a spin. I'm guessing that exercising while watching the Food Network and therefore dreaming about yummy things to eat somewhat defeats the purpose, but at least I'm burning a few extra calories!

When Kylie woke up we hit the backyard and played in her water (still filled with dry rice from the winter) table for a while. Before long she was headed down the deck steps toward the garden so like any sane mommy, I stuffed the camera in my pocket and headed after her. I figured she was headed to check the raspberry plants, but it was actually the "creek" (think neighborhood storm drain run-off) at the bottom of our hill that was calling her name.

(Oh, and if you're wondering about the pants, let me explain... She was dressed smartly in jeans ~ good job dressing her honey! ~ with that top when I got home from school. Shortly after I got home she needed to use the potty. She wanted ~ like always ~ to take her pants all the way off. And she takes off running when she is done, usually completely naked. A few minutes later we headed upstairs with her in a shirt and diaper and her jeans laying in the downstairs bathroom. When she gets chilly she wakes up early, those pants were close by and I was too lazy to go back downstairs to get the jeans...)

At first she cautiously squatted near the edge just poking with a stick...

And then she found what I call "creek ick" (takes me back to days of playing in the "crik" at Grandpa's house with my sister and cousin...)

At first she wasn't too sure about the "ick," but before long she though it was hilarious!

Then it was time to step in with both feet...

And of course we all know that playing in the creek is much more fun when you're with someone you love!

Anyway, back to the bandwagon. I've been seeing little signs ~ a totally unflattering picture of me at Kylie's birthday party, the fact that the new clothes I bought last spring are too tight ~ and today I was winded when I came back up the hill from our creek. I've decided that it's no longer about a clothing size, it's about being around for that sweet little face above (and the sweet face of my loving hubby too!). I HATE weight, but I think that if I post my progress here that I'll hold to it. So here it goes, a picture of my scale before I put on my pj's tonight...

I'll be keeping track each Tuesday!

so funny that I too watch the food network when I'm on my elliptical. I soooo wish my scale only said 164! Working from home these past 7 years has really done a number on me!! (that's what I choose to blame it on) I need to jump back on my wagon too!

BRAVE! That is the word I'm assigning to you today. Good for you!! I'd love for my scale to read what yours does- ha! I wish you tons of luck- could you bring that wagon over to me so I could get on? :)

Okay, if you can do more than 10 minutes (and I'm being very generous with myself) without collapsing, I will really feel bad. We just got an elliptical this week, too! After seeing my face after my first 10 minutes, my darling husband said, "I think the book says to start with 5minutes." Yeah, thanks. There was a book?

And I love you, but I'm so NOT posting my weight. But I'm right there with you on the wagon.

Ok I am getting on the wagon with you too! I am going to weigh on Monday's after biblestudy.

That video reminds me of times at Grandpa's farm. We used to try and sling that stuff at each other! Gross! We were crazy!
Klie is definetly a Shultz!
