"Ring Rings"

I'm sure I'm not the only one out there that feels like taming a tiger would be easier than getting a decent photo of a toddler...

This picture is the best I could do (mind you in an almost 48 hour time period) to show Kylie's latest excitement.

I know, I know, she's only two ~ but she had been asking for them since January! Before we became parents we said that we'd wait until our daughter was 10 before we'd let her get her ears pierced (I was allowed at 10 myself). Then we'd see little girls and decided that we'd do it when our daughter was an infant. Then we came to our senses and decided (after Kylie got home) that we'd wait until she asked for them. And "ring rings" was one of her early words! I told her that she couldn't wear my earrings because she didn't have holes in her ears and she'd respond "I howe mama!" Then I'd tell her it would be "owie" and then she couldn't touch and she'd say, "Owie, no touch, okay!"

So we were at the mall birthday shopping for Alexander yesterday and as we walked by Claire's I walked in just to ask if they would do both ears at one time. They said usually only on weekends, but there just happened to be two employees that were trained to pierce ears in today, would I like to go ahead and have it done? I made a quick call to Ian (who made me check out the sanitation procedure) and he said go for it.

I'll be honest, she cried right before it happened when I was holding her tight ~ I think it reminded her of getting vaccinations ~ but as soon as she looked in a mirror and saw her earrings the tears dried up! And since then each time she sees a new person she says, "Ky-ee ring rings!"

An early interest in jewelry and shoes ~ we're gonna be in trouble in the teenage years!

Well, I SO didn't get you called...crazy night...like every night! HOW CUTE! I have been toying with that very idea, but I have had mixed feelings. I think they're adorable! Maybe when Caroline sees the ring rings she'll want some of her own! Right now, I can't bear to hold her down...I'll tell you the rest next time we talk. Tell Kylie we LOVE her ring rings! And we love her, too!

I don't know if you remember, but Anah did the same thing at 2. She actually wanted them so bad she stood still without crying while they did them one at a time. You know what a clothes/fashion crazed girl I have on my hands so I'm feeling for you. Good luck...welcome to the world of girls....

Also am looking forward to shopping with her or better yet, letting Anah take her while you and I relax....

Oh so pretty! Maddy cried too but it was over just minutes after it was all done. :0)
I'm right with you and being in trouble with jewelry and shoes.

The picture is ADORABLE. Thankfully Allison has shown no interest in earrings- maybe because I wear the same boring ones day after day? :) We're hoping to wait until 6th grade (funny how we come up with these ages/times in life to allow our children to do things), but you never know!!!

Kylie, your "ring rings" are so pretty and you seem so proud of them. Love how your eyes light up when you show them to someone new.
Now Grandma won't have to take her ring rings off and hang them over your ears anymore! You have your own!
By the way, Kristi, I'm so happy that you are getting pictures back on the blog. I was going into withdrawal!

Kylie, I love you and Jesus loves you, LaoLao
