To cut the crust or not to cut the crust... (Not in our house)

In our crazy 10 days, we flew home from Ohio on Saturday the 4th. Once again, I now see that spending about $50 more is sooooooo worth it for a direct flight. This time we left from Dayton and flew to Atlanta on our way home to the Carolinas. (Still trying to figure out if Baltimore on the way up or Atlanta on the way back was more out of the way...) We left Dayton at 7pm and touched down here well after midnight. Then they had trouble getting our bags out and we just getting on the shuttle to the car at 1:15... What a night!

Anyway, we were home for less than 12 hours before we headed to Lincolnton for CCC's closing celebration to celebrate 20 summers of ministry. It was an awesome evening of praise to our Heavenly Father! After we helped clean up, Ian, Kylie and I squeezed into the SUV (what will we do when we pack for more than one child?) and headed to the coast. Yeah, that would imply that we left L-town somewhere around 10pm and arrived at the beach house around 2:30am ~ we're still trying out for the "best in parenting" award because of our promptness in getting the munchkin to bed two nights in a row...

On the way to the beach we stopped for dinner at Zaxby's. I'm determined not to create a child that will eat only chicken, so we opted for a grilled cheese for Kylie. Before I could cut her sandwich into bites, she grabbed half of it and showed us that she is, "so far past getting my sandwich cut up ~ thank you very much mommy!" So many folks have told me all along, "Be sure to cut off the crust, kids don't like it."

Well, most folks haven't met the quirky personality of my little one...

Here was bite one.

And here is bite two and all subsequent bites. (I had to eat the gooey cheesy part in the middle ~ go figure!)

If only she'd eat more veggies with such gusto! Ian and I are now getting a bit bored with green beans (her current veggie fav), but Kylie consumes almost a can a day...

Here's the deal...as you add kids, you suck up all previous intentions of what you will and won't drive...you get a mini van with as many cup holders as possible (mine has 11)and a cavernous "trunk" area...then you add a car topper. You'll know you've truly arrived in the category of "Have Kids, Will Travel" when you (and mark my words, you WILL) do the happy dance because you've been able drive 50 consecutive miles without whining because your child has "TV face". Love ya!

Have child, will travel! You kids have been working out all of the extras with ease. God certainly hand picked this wonderfully adaptable child for you. What marvelous experiences you are giving her. I'm so proud of both of you.
