The Stuff Saturdays are made of

This past Saturday was one of those days that made me remember why I often look forward to weekends. Our weeks seem to be hectic with our work schedules and family time is a precious commodity!

We started off the day by sleeping late. (Here I will kindly remind all my friends that call before 8am ~ who say that, "You have a toddler, so I know you are already up." ~ that yes, we do have a toddler, but she truly is our girl and loves to sleep late. Early for Kylie is 8:30am and she usually sleeps until after 9). So we all snoozed until Maya finally let us know it was time for her to go outside...

From there we met Beth (my college roomie) and her girls, Anah and Sera, at lunch in Hickory at my favorite sub shop, Dante's. Then it was off to Blowing Rock with Sera in tow to enjoy arts in the park and some shopping. We finished off the day by going to a Hickory Crawdad's baseball game (farm league baseball is so fun!) that was followed by a Point of Grace concert.

"You want me to smile? I don't think so, you didn't share your veggie sub that you rave on and on about!" **Anah was a good sport and smiled during lunch despite the fact that we had to leave her in Hickory ~ she broke her toe Thursday night and wasn't supposed to spend a day walking on it.

"This beats a stroller anyday!" So we used the stroller to avoid carrying the diaper bag...

Checking out all the artwork was nice, but the real highlight of our time in Blowing Rock was eating Kilwin's ice cream in the park!

"Umm, I'm still going to need one more taste to determine if I like Sera's cake batter, Mommy's English toffee, or your maple walnut ice cream the best!"

"Could this day possibly get better? Ice cream in the park, a baseball game with yummy snacks, and now music that I can dance to? I LOVE summer Saturdays!"

What an enjoyable day! Funny how so much of it was familiar in many ways. One of our first dates back in 1996 was to a 4 Him/Point of Grace concert. We also got to spend the day with our god-daughter. It seems like just yesterday that Sera was a baby! Now she is a big help with our little girl...

Hey, guess what? Point of Grace was my first favorite Christian group, and I went to the 4Him/Point of Grace concert here in Indy in 1996!!! I LOVE their music! Wish we could have been there!

What a blast! We love weekends too. They just fly by though.

Seeing Kylie at the b-ball games makes me more confident about taking Malia to a soccer game!
