About a girl and her dog...

Finally! The love affair has begun between our human daughter and our furry daughter! Kylie has been cautiously petting Maya for the past few weeks, but tonight she followed Maya around. For the first time Maya actually tried to get away. Of course the camera was upstairs during most of the petting time, but after seeing Kylie use Maya as "London Bridge," we had to go get it! They've come a long way since February 6 when they first met...

In addition to seeing several of our new extended China family this weekend, we also got to spend time with my Uncle Larry and Aunt Carol who were visiting from MD. This was Kylie's first time meeting them and boy did she warm up quickly. Who knows where my camera was during the time she spent with them, but mom promises that she got some shots on her camera, so I'll add them soon!

In other Kylie breaking news, she has switched over to whole milk with no problems. (We are still finishing the last can I had of formula, now reserved for her night-time bottles). Our doctor said to try a bottle of milk before we were out of formula in case she disliked it and needed to be "weaned off" of formula by mixing it with milk to transition. She didn't... The first bottle of milk we offered she guzzled down without a second thought. Now we are just trying to figure out the difficult art of the sippy cup. We've tried four different types, but she just gets ticked off. We do need to get off the bottle before long though, she is starting to play with them and uses them to "paint." I just can't figure out where she came up with the idea to play with her bottle...Thanks daddy! (No, he isn't just putting it in her mouth, he's pressing on the liner to make it squirt into her mouth. And they say that mimicking is the most sincere form of flattery...)

Our little one has also discovered how to create light in her room during the day. I was at preschool on Monday and Ian said he thought he heard Kylie during her morning nap. He went to spy and found her standing at the corner of her crib pulling the darkening shade away from the window. She'd let it drop for a few seconds and then pull it back again, I guess to check on the comings and goings of the neighbors. At least she didn't cry or scream when she woke up in the semi-darkness!

Does Kylie ever love to swing! She doesn't sit back in the baby-swing like other kids, she takes the adrenaline rush head on at the front. I think she will be one (like me) that holds her arms up on roller coasters! I also think we are going to have to use our sweet smiles to get daddy to put a swing in our back yard... Who can resist that adorable face?

We had to try and try when we switched Maggie to the sippy cup. The ones that finally worked were the ones that were for younger babies with a smaller spout. I'm jealous that Kylie can drink regular milk. Maggie has to drink soy. Blah.
