social distancing {week seven ~ lots of baking going on!}

Week seven...49 days...is now a wrap.  Once upon a time I thought the movie Groundhog Day was funny and entertaining.  Little did I realize just how not funny and unentertaining it would be to live it for seven weeks.

Sidewalk chalk.

Slack line.

Bread baking.

though note just how great kneading bread is for taking out pent up aggression...

Flowers.

M8 kids in the kitchen.

vegan sticky teriyaki chickpeas...suprisingly good and filling!

Been there, done that on all the above.  We did start a new thing this week though.  Socially distanced driveway visits.  Virtually checking in with friends is a good thing, but getting to see them in person is SO MUCH more!  Nicholas and his buddy laid on the sidewalk/driveway and played socially distanced Rock, Paper, Scissors for the longest time while his friend's mom and I chatted about losing our minds.

Baking has become a way to pass time for the under 20 crowd here.  Often there are arguments over who gets to be the one to prepare our sweet treat, but some days they team up.

This duo is a frequent one...he has looked to her as a role model and she has always had a soft spot for him They've grown just a bit since my friend Melissa made their aprons...

Once we started "driveway visits" Daniel wanted in on the action as well.  Three of his buddies came over one day to chat.  It took them a few minutes to readjust to being together in person, but before you knew it the silly 11 year old boy banter began flying.  They totally crack me up!

Did I mention desserts?  Yeah, we've been having a lot of those!  This day's treat was chocolate cupcakes made by the little trio and man were they good!

Nat had requested Oreo frosting, so why not kick it up a notch and turn them into Mickey cupcakes?

In searching for different ways to spend our PE/recess time, the littles wanted to ride scooters/bikes to the park.  I had warned them ahead of time that the playground was closed, but they retained hope that I was wrong.  At least we got about two miles of walking/biking/scootering in on a lovely spring afternoon!

see kids, mommy does know what she's talking about...
