Holden 2016 (day 2)

I think one of my favorite times of day at the beach...any beach...is the early morning.  While I'm not a "crack o' dawner," I do wake up on the earlier side and so each day I quietly dress and slip out of the house and head to the water.  There's just something about making your way down a mostly deserted beach with nothing more than the sound of the surf pounding...

And typically when I get back at least some of the crew is up and getting about the order of business for the day.  Following my mom's lead of "no electronics when at the beach" rule that we followed in my childhood, we unplug from it all...even TV...and so the kids can be found working on puzzles, playing board games or reading until it is time to head down to the beach for the day.

And then we just sit find ways to pass the time.

I'm a person that typically feels the need to be doing something.  It's just my nature.  And with five kids in the house it seems like there is always something productive I can/should be doing.

Luckily there is one place on the planet where I find it possible to just sit and be.

Hours went by.

The tide eventually came an reclaimed the fort they had worked so hard to create.

Daniel and Ky decided to give the ocean a little bit of pushback, but still the tide rolled in.

So we tried our hand at fishing for a bit.  Not much more than seaweed this afternoon...

But you know what makes it okay that the fish aren't biting?

Oh yeah, Beachs N Cream can put a positive spin on any day...
