2014 Guangdong Girls reunion {day 2}

As our reunion date inched ever closer, the NC summer switched from "easy bake oven" to "flat out oppressive" and we began to wonder if our out of state friends...and even ourselves...were going to be able to withstand the heat.

And then, just in time, we were given a break.

While temperatures had been pushing 100 earlier in the week, the Saturday of our time together we were blessed with a day in the low 80s.

And what's a girl gonna do on a gloriously low humidity day in the 80s in July in North Carolina?

Well, spend it outside with her sisterhood of course!

This group of girls just makes my heart smile.  They have wildly different interests and passions, yet their shared past bonds them in a way that is difficult to put into words.  So I'll just let pictures do the talking...

And then there are the siblings.  Our families have grown considerably since we first met in February of 2007.

And while the siblings don't necessarily share that bond the girls do, they always find their way.

And manage to find common ground (and technology) to chat about.

Speaking of wildly different interests and passions.  That would describe we moms quite well.  But there's something about a "delivery room experience" to equal the playing field.  And today these women are some of my very dearest friends, even if we only get to see each other on rare occasions.

Saturday was a big day for one of the older brothers.  Carlisle entered his teen years.  Being the good sport he is, he celebrated his big day in the company of his little sister and her friends...and their siblings.

And then, on top of the chocolate cake, there were s'mores...

...the perfect sweet ending to a sweet day of fellowship.

This post just makes my heart happy. That your families have kept in touch and the girls have such a love for each other is just exceptional.
