Poor Finn...
But I suspect that if Finn had known the mission he'd be sent on at our house he would have chosen not to accept his placement at the home of the M6.
That's because at our house on Thursday night, Finn McMissile got the ultimate "swirly."
Yep, Finn got flushed.
Apparently one of our kids was playing with him in an empty toilet paper roll. A little too close to the toilet.
**Now if your house is full of Barbie, Hello Kitty and all things pink and you are wondering why a car was in an empty toilet paper roll, that actually makes perfect sense. You see, Modified Mater and Dragon Lightning McQueen have a blast swerving through big pipes in the short Tokyo Mater. (It's a fun little clip, but if you don't have six minutes, jump directly to 4:20 to get the correct scene). I'll give the child props for recreating one of his favorite of Mater's Tall Tales.**
And then the child had in impulsive moment and decided to see what happens when water rushes over a toy car in the bottom of the toilet. Maybe expecting Finn to swim against the current? We're not really sure.
What we are sure of is that we heard tears from the bathroom as Finn disappeared from sight...
Our little guy was crushed ~ not to mention very concerned for Finn's safety ~ and needed a happy ending. So Ian made a pit stop by Target on his way to work the next morning and we devised a little plan.
That night the kids were so excited about our evening entertainment (going to Toys R Us to spend their gift card from Grandpa M) that they all missed this amazing sight...
The blue paint must have caught his eye as he raced across the front sidewalk to the van.
Funniest quote of the night? Following our explanation that Finn had navigated the sewer system, made his way out of the manhole down the street, driven the road and then crossed our yard, Caleb exclaims, "Mommy and Daddy, I know you are just teasing me. Finn couldn't do that, he's not real. I know that Santa brought him to me..."
Ah the simple joy of a five year old boy being reunited with his $3.48 toy car.
And no, Finn hasn't left his side since.

Love it!
Priceless!
OH my gosh, this is too cute! I love the real/Santa quote. Made me smile!
How fun!
The look on Caleb's face says it all. Happy endings are so rare but so beautiful.
That is too funny! Be glad he understands that Finn didn't really go through the sewer system and come back or you might have had him try the adventure all over again! LOL
LOVE IT!!!! And I LOVE that you and Ian had a little fun with it too! Hmmm...not sure who had more fun here, actually! LOVE THAT!
Man I love that kid! What an awesome quote and Daddy... ;-) And you are correct that why a car would be in a toilet paper roll is completely foreign to this mama.
Great story, and what a great way to surprise Caleb with a new Finn!
After 4 boys... we have lots and lots of cars... our youngest got several more to add to our huge collection this year! Boys and cars! :)
Had to share with Tim tonight! We both laughed and laughed!! Finn is one of Gabie's favs too! I think I won't tell him how awesome Finn is in the sewer system!!
bless his heart! luckily he made it out ok for mister caleb!
Oh my, we LOVE it! Chuck said Finn had better be careful, Caleb might want to send him on another mission! LOL! Awesome family memory with a happy ending. ;)
I love it! Our littest man LOVES CARS2, I hate to admit how many cars he has from it... Finn, Holly Shiftwell... Mater with the gun package... all the little ones but hours of fun. This story is priceless!
Hilarious!
Finn is very treasured around here too. And Holly as well!
btw, seems totally logical to me that Finn could have gotten himself out of the toilet incident. :)
