Preschooler no more...

note her necklace.  i had bought both us matching crosses on her second birthday, but she seemed too young to wear hers back then.  today was the perfect day to give it to her with the reminder that i was wearing the same thing!
May I formally introduce you to the first of the M kids to hold the title of elementary student.

pretty proud of her lunchbox ~ chosen because green is her new favorite color AND the frog sticking its tongue out is (in her words) "pretty silly."
I'm so proud of her.  I know she was uncertain this morning, but she put on her game face and decided to face the day head on.

And when Kylie puts on her game face?  Watch out world ~ she's coming!

She had a few moments of tears, both last night and this morning.  Not because she was scared of school.  She actually laughed when we asked her if she was.

No, she didn't cry because she was nervous about going to school.  She said it was because she was going to miss this bunch...

And you know what?

We're gonna miss her a lot during the day too!

Last night I thought I was going to be okay doing this "first day of kindergarten thing".  Then she sobbed while I was putting her to bed saying that she is excited about school but is going to miss me so much. Rip out my heart...

**Oh, and if you wanna know, yes, I shed my own tears.  "Breathe in, breathe out" I keep reminding myself.  I think I'm gonna make it.

She looks good for her first big day. Many more first days of school to come. I'm sure you will miss her big smile and helpful hand today, but that will make the time when she gets home even more exciting!

I love the frog bag! It's pretty cool!
