Sunday Snapshot {Are they twins?}

There's a question that we get on nearly every public outing.
It's one that I suppose we could avoid a little more if they changed the way they dressed.
But right now they typically insist that they wear something alike.  And I realize that won't last forever, so into the closet I dig.  Thankfully we have a wardrobe with abundant "matchy-matchies" from the generosity of friends and family.  Each girl chooses to accessorize in her own way, be it hairstyle or "jewelry" or sometimes shoes; but overall they want to be the same.
I suspect though, that it's not just the way they are dressed, or the fact that they are both beautiful Asian girls that makes people stop to ask.
Rather I think it is the way that God has knit their hearts together as if they were sisters from birth.  Hard to believe that they met just five months ago.  Only God...
They look out for one another, these two.  Kylie jumps in with a "That's just the way God made her and she's perfect!" when she notices anyone checking out her little sister's glasses, eye patches, or birthmark.  Darcy will seldom accept a treat unless she is sure there is something for her big sister.  You can frequently find them hand in hand, sharing secrets, giggling, or rolling their eyes at the antics of their brother.  I pray they are always this close.
I'm their mom.  I know that there are 364 days between their births AND some 1000 miles separating their birth cities.  But sometimes I almost find even myself wondering if that question could possibly be true...

"Are they twins?"

I think people notice them because they are DARLING and then they don't know what else to say!?!?!

Just when I think I'm "okay" with our girl NOT having a sister ;) Thanks!!

Followed over from Sunday snapshots... and so glad I did! This is so sweet. I have two also that always get asked if they are twins. No 28 days apart. But you are SO right! God just knitted them together! Each helping the other in the ways the other needs. It is simply amazing what God can do.
Thx for sharing!

I made you tear up and you just did the same to me. God knew exactly what he was doing when he chose them to be sisters, they are just adorable together :) I LOVE the last picture of them together holding hands, they just seem to fit perfectly.

I'm captivated by Darcy's sweet expressions toward her big sister! Only five months? I still can't believe it's only been that long. And I like the matchy-matchies because it's easier to spot when one has wandered off in public. ;-)

You definitely could have been describing my two "littles" who are 4.5 months apart. They are inseperable and the best of friends. When someone asks them how old they are, the youngest will answer and always follows it with "but we're not twins." Guess she's gotten a little too used to the question :)

BTW...your girls are precious!

So sweet! My girls are 2 yrs apart exactly and were best buddies for many years....they still are although as teenagers they want their own space but I love when one of them returns from being gone for a few days (both have been at camps this summer) the first thing they do is head to their room and talk, giving each other the details first before even mom. I was not close with my sister growing up, and still am not so I LOVE the relationship my girls share and yours!!!

I love these pictures!!

I have changed my answer to "yes" when I get the "are they twins" question. It confuses them when they ask their birthday and I give two different dates :)

It's too tiring to answer everything all the time! I have decided to have fun with it :)

I love the last one where they are holding hands and Darcy looks as if she is revealing her deepest secrets to her big sister. Very sweet post and two beautiful girls, who will definitely be best of friends for life. I'll try to wait patiently for photos of them in the matchy matchy dresses we gave to them. A terrific post! I think Indigo needs a sister...

What preciouse pictures! I don't have a sense of Darcy's personality yet, but I know what a big heart your Kylie has. She was open to loving her new sister from the start. I'm sure that helped pave the way to this sweet relationship between sisters. They are both so perfect.

So cool to see that they are doing so well together. At least they'll always have a playmate nearby!

Glad Darcy is doing well after her surgery (Reese had all of her surgeries for her glaucoma in China, though she is still on drops, and we have another eye dr appt next Wednesday). With any luck, this will be her only surgery on that. Such a cutie pie!
