Types of cheese

So I guess it is no secret that grocery shopping with three preschoolers is a challenge.  Some stores have the fun carts with cars on them that will seat two, but then there's the third.  Convincing two to ride while one has the freedom of walking is difficult at best, and if I have a weak moment and let all three walk, it never fails that they will start getting tired one by one until the last wants to be carried and pushing a cart laden with groceries and two kiddos while carrying the third is no easy task.  That explains why Darcy and I typically make Tuesday morning our grocery run day.  That is going to get us through the end of May when pre-school is over.  Not real sure how we'll work it out after that, but hey, that's still about 45 days away...

But in addition to the coralling kiddos challenge, there's the deciphering requests made by family members.

Cause sometimes I sorta forget Kylie's "cheese code."

Some people refer to cheeses with names like, American,  Sharp Cheddar, Mexican blend, Mozzerella String, and Parmesan.  Kylie however uses more descriptive names that work a little better for her four year old mind.  Around here those cheeses are known as "plastic cheese," "yucky cheese," "sprinkle cheese," "stand up cheese," and "shake cheese" respectively.

When I have all the possibilities in front of me, it totally makes sense.  But when I'm standing in the dairy aisle ~ usually the last stop ~ with a toddler babbling in Chinese at me, I frequently have trouble remembering which is "sprinkle cheese" as Kylie requested and I worry about buying the wrong kind.

And then I have to laugh and smile when I think of how animated Kylie gets when she talks about cheese.

Cause I bet in about 10 years I'm gonna miss waffling between the Mexican blend and the Parmesan while shopping...

I'm kind of partial to Tillamook Sharp Cheddar myself. It's fun to cut into all sorts of shapes

Can I tell you it doesn't get easier shopping with three when they are out of preschool? I still have a hard time doing it with all three if I have a lot of things to get. There's so much chatter...and I just can't concentrate. Although, I can't blame it all on them. I went alone the other day and needed two things--milk and laundry detergent (no, I don't usually buy laundry detergent at the grocery store, but I was liking the idea of only one stop). I spent $145 and forgot the laundry detergent.

Cute picture of Kylie. We miss all of you.

Okay, Tricia made me snort...SO my life! Caroline called American sliced cheese "plastic" cheese just the other day!! At first, I didn't get it. Her favorite stand-by is string cheese, and we were out. So she said she'd eat "plastic" cheese. I thought, "Is it really THAT bad?" and then realized she was talking about the wrapper! They are sisters, for sure!!

Man, we miss you guys!
