Pool days!

It's HOT outside! I'm talking NC, suck the life out of you, humid, hot! Luckily I've discovered that the summer isn't lost just because we can't afford a membership at a pool (and we're just a bit too far to go to Mom's for the day). Can you believe that the group of public pools around here (and there's like ten of them so we don't have to get tired of just one!) only cost the kids and I $5 to get in? We've been three times since last Friday! We just put on our suits, pack a lunch, and head out!

The really exciting part is Ky's increasing comfort level with the water! Anyone who knows her well can relate to the look of terror she had last summer in a pool. She would cling to whoever was holding her and cry, no, make that wail, if her face got one drop of water on it.

Check out the progression from last Friday to today!

From cautiously wading in the baby pool...

...to "taking a shower and actually getting her face wet...

...to practicing swimming motions!

And just in case you were wondering, Caleb has thoroughly enjoyed himself too!

"My cup seems to have a problem!"
"Let's see, what kind of mischief can I get myself into now?"

"Nothing beats floating in the pool on a hot day!"

Being 3 is wonderful - I'm so proud of you Kylie!! And Caleb looks right at home. So glad you have lots of pool options - no better way to pass NC summer days. I can hardly wait to get in the water at your mom's on Sunday.

Kylie's getting her face wet and Andrew is swimming. Our kids are growing up, aren't they?

Abby was looking for that blue suit with the white polka dots the other day. I told her it didn't fit her any more and she insisted that it still did. I don't think she realizes that she's grown.

We've been keeping cool at the pool, too! You are right, it's been HOT! Thank you for posting about Kylie's fear of the water last year. It is giving me hope for Kate. Maybe next year will be more enjoyable for her. :) She whines about a drop of water on her face as well. Sigh.... AC loves the pool, so it's been hard.

Too cute! So I noticed that Caleb and my Alex are both sporting Lightning McQueen shirts in our posts. I think those boys are 2 peas in a pod. I look forward to them meeting!

Did I mention that Noah has that same blue swim shirt from Target? Its an 18 month one and its super tight. Poppy got him a new swim outfit this weekend so we're back in business!
