It was a get out of the house kind of day yesterday and the forecast called for rain (we never did get it, but it was grey and miserable out) so I figured we'd head back to the children's museum now that we have passes. It is nice knowing that we can go just for an hour and not have to spend any money! We spent our time in the community section and Kylie and Caleb spent their time...
Checking out the by-gone era of a phone booth ~ seriously, when was the last time you saw one?
Being a train conductor. Caleb was mesmerized by the extensive table they have set up. He stood and pushed that engine through the tunnel for 10 minutes until Kylie finally said, "Mommy, I'm bored of trains, can we go do something else?"
Putting her culinary skills to use. She made me some stew and was "plating it up" for me with a warning that it just came out of the oven and was "Berry Hoht!" Note that her sparkly blue purse is on her shoulder the entire time! To her credit when we were getting out of the car I told her to leave the purse there, but she wanted to carry it and I gave her the warning that I would not hold it. She carried it without complaining the entire time we were there, even though I could tell it was stuffed.

They were having so much fun that the only way I could get them to leave was to offer having lunch with Daddy. Caleb started whipping his head around and yelling, "Daaayy!" as if he thought Ian were going to come around the corner. So cute, and such a long way from crying at the mere sight of him those first few days in China!
Just in case you are wondering (I know I would be and besides, I'll want to know in a few years) the contents of Kylie's purse, I did an inventory while they were napping. The fun part of this is that she dug through the toy box and Caleb's car container to "pack" her purse while I was helping Caleb put on his pants, socks, and shoes AFTER she knew where we were going. For today's outing to the museum she selected the following:
three Tonka trucks, one Tow-Mater truck, one Diego SUV, "her keys" (a random collection of keys that we don't know what locks they fit), Hello Kitty sunglasses, and a rhinestone barrette. Just in case...

One never knows what you might need at the Museum...
Someone told me today that they're opening something like that at Discovery Place this year.
It looks like the museum is a great hit! They sure look like they like it!
It makes me tear up reading about Kylie's purse. How I miss watching how her little mind works!Give them both a big hug from Cici!
Love ya
Ooooh, that is Maggie's kind of bag--sparkly and full of junk!
The museum looks super fun!
Your museum looks like an absolutely fantastic resource for you. I'm particularly pleased that the children can learn about things in the past like the telephone booth. I would love to know what Kylie was thinking when she packed her purse. Those are obviously not random selections.
Anna and Julia are like that too with purses. What's a riot is that if I forget my lip gloss, Anna usually has some in her purse. SCORE!
There so would have been chapstick in there, but she's still on "assisted use only" due to her obsessive use of the stuff!
That's my favorite thing it to review Anne Marie's back-pack or purse @ the end of a trip to see what she chose to bring w/ her. It's usually quite funny!
Way to go Kylie - well prepared AND stylish!!
We still have some of these phone booths....
I love that she is carrying around the purse. We are in the backpack stage. You inspired me to write a post... stay tuned!
Can't wait to come up there and go to that museum with all of you. Sounds like the perfect place for children on a rainy or cold day. They are learning while having fun.
Caleb looks so engrossed in the train. Kylie appears to be becoming interested in cooking - just like Mommy.
Your blog entries are so important to me. Bringing up the blog is the first thing I do when I get to work every morning. I've even been known to come on Saturday or Sunday to check on a new entry.
It makes me feel more a part of your lives.
Perhaps someday I'll be able to come out of the computer "Stone Age" and have one at home.
Love, LaoLao
I am cracking up at the purse ... Claire does the same thing AND if we are missing something we always know where to look, one of her many many purses, ha!
Have a great weekend
Love that she made sure her brother was taken care of also. She's a really great sister.
