Happy Chinese New Year (a bit early)!

Saturday morning we prepared for a day trip (read "put a ridiculous amount of random stuff in the Highlander") and hit the road to spend the day with Darby and her family. In honor of the holiday we were there to celebrate, we moms dressed our girls in Chinese silk and our hubbies snapped away. Sadly neither girl was much in a photographic mood (Kylie had been sleeping in the car and Darby just woke up from her nap), but we got a few shots anyway.

Shortly after an outfit change we headed to the fairgrounds for the Triangle Area Chinese New Year celebration. We ate some great food, watched a man make dragon whiskers candy and got to see some exciting entertainment. Kylie enjoyed the folk dancing, was only mildly frightened by the Lion Dance ~ nothing that her magic chapstick and a tight snuggle from Mommy couldn't cure ~ and was enthralled by the Dragon Dance.

While it was special to get to celebrate Kylie's heritage with one of her Lianjiang sisters, the best part was watching Kylie and Darby interact! Despite not seeing each other since November, the girls seem to remember each other well.

Friends forever!

We were so blessed to have spent two weeks in China with 10 families who have become family to us!

For those of you that have been praying, Lottie had a good night last night. She was responding well to the IVs and her doctor was optimistic that if she continues to improve she could possibly come home tomorrow. Keep praying for her little body to heal!

What beautiful little dolls! They are beautiful in their Chinese silk dresses. It is so neat to see the bond between them.
I am proud of the adult efforts to keep them in touch with each other. The New Year's celebration looks fascinating!
