social distancing {week fourteen ~ the start of summer}

Summer day 1.  Mostly spent in pajamas (we have a couple who put "have a pajama day" on the bucket list every summer) and bathing suits (love you $20 slip and slide!).

Day 2.  Another day, another chance to explore a 'new to us' green space in the area.  Horseshoe Bend Nature Preserve was Sunday's destination.  How do we feel about summer?

Ready?

Set...

Let's jump in!

Summer is here!

While the trails down to the river were closed from earlier storm damage, we walked the perimeter pathways.

And took time to admire the flowers.

The afternoon was hot, but that was okay because we got to end it cooling off at the pool.

June 14 is pretty far past opening day for us to make our QH debut, but it was the first weekend of "reduced capacity" time slots for those of us dedicated to seriously maintaining social distance.  we missed the usual hubbub of seeing, swimming with and talking to our typical 'summer friends,' but were thankful for the chance to really swim.

While we had a super long and glorious spring, the end of school seemed to usher in our normal summer temperatures, so we began to turn to indoor (translated into southern, 'air conditioning provided') activities to pass the time.

Puzzles were popular this week.

Very,

very popular.

This is just a small selection of the ones that pretty much covered the playroom floor.

Parks, pool, puzzles and late afternoon walks (though we wonder how much longer we'll be able to stand the heat ~ may have to switch to mornings) have pretty much summed up this first week of summer.

Flowers around our neighbor's mailboxes always add a bit of pep in our step despite the humidity!
