Holden Beach 2020 {a beachy "work/school-cation" ~ Monday}

2020.

Isn't one of the themes we've had to adopt "making lemonade out of lemons?"

In this most unusual (and for the social butterflies of the family, disappointing) school year Ian and I realized that as long as we have laptops and the destination has wifi, we have the flexibility to be anywhere.

If we're already having class at the dining room table (sure, talk to me about having an actual desk all you want, seven desks in the house was simply not happening this year...), why not try a different dining room?

And if we're headed to a different house, why not one with a view?

Did you know that oceanfront rentals in September are the same price as a mid-island house during the high season?

With 2020, we're looking for silver linings!  Classroom/office with a view for the win!

Sunday night I'll admit to having some anxiety over the decision to take school to the beach.  What if we felt like we just didn't have enough time to enjoy ourselves after everyone was finished for the day?

My stress began to melt away at lunch.  Despite the insanity of 31 unique Google Meet start times for the kids during the day, there is a sweet spot around lunch from 12 to 12:50 where everyone is at a break.  On a normal school day that means a lot of noise at the dining room table as everyone congregates for a common meal.  But this week lunch had a bit of a bonus...

...the Atlantic!

Toes in sand between classes?

I think we could all get used to the idea!

And then thanks to the ease of tossing dinner in a crock pot early in the day, there was plenty of time to enjoy the sand and surf after school!

There is something so very soothing about building a dribble castle!  Perhaps if we all had access to water-soaked sand all the time the world would be a calmer place.

Or maybe the feel of powdery sand running through our hands is the answer...

Or body casting in a combo of wet/dry sand?
Whatevs.

So thankful for warm September weather in NC and the opportunity to take advantage of it at the beach!
