Nine is fine

This kids has lots of love in his heart to share.  Most of that feeling of adoration goes toward people, but some of it is for things.  I'd venture to say his #1 love language is receiving gifts.

Therefore to him there are two days in the year that are better than any other.  Christmas and of course his birthday!

I have to say, it is pretty fun to give Nicholas gifts because he is a joyful recipient.  Even his siblings have noticed how he glows when opening gifts and they often get in on the gift giving action...even if it is something "re-gifted."

And then there's cake.  While not quite as overwhelmed with emotion over his cake like he was last year...when he received what we are sure was his first birthday cake ever...it is clear he was still thrilled.

This year he even felt confident enough to tweak the most requested cake at the M8 home.  Instead of the Pioneer Woman's chocolate cake with strawberries, nutella and whipped frosting, he requested that homemade chocolate frosting adorn his special treat.

It was a good choice...

Nicholas Q, you are such a light in the life of our family.  We are grateful for you and how you've taught us to love freely and embrace each moment.  You make us better people for knowing and loving you!  I love you more than you love to give us hugs and your famous stink eye!  May you always have double fries in your Bento box at Cowfish...
