Disney Days 2019 {Magic Kingdom day 1}

Oh Florida.
Where are your sunny skies and promised warm winter temperatures?
Thankfully at the last minute on Saturday night I told the kids to grab their winter coats and shove them in a bin.  You know, because we were going to leave that bin in the Transit, but since we had all the extra cargo space, we may as well be safe rather than sorry.

What in the world cloudy, grey skies with temps in the 40s?

7:50 am and waiting for a bus to the Magic Kingdom ~ park opens at 9, so we're doing good!

Cooler than expected weather or not, we have arrived at the happiest place on earth and good times are about to begin!

getting our happy on...if you've ever wondered why our kids love Disney, it's us...totally us!
At this point Nicholas is ready to figure out what all the fuss is about.

We had actually made it to the park well before rope drop and got to see characters outside the park and then the morning welcome show in front of the castle before guests were admitted past.

First stop while the lines were short?  Off to work we go!

What visit to the Magic Kingdom is complete without getting the most notorious ear worm song ever stuck in your head?

Once we had the beloved (or much reviled) song on repeat in our minds, we headed over to Frontierland to get on a runaway train.

Big Thunder Mountain remains one of our favorites...

It may not have been warm like it is in Agrabah, but we enjoyed a magic carpet ride.

eternal kids at heart...who says Disney is just for children?
After exploring all of Adventureland it was time to head into the future in Tomorrowland.  Our first task was to team up with Buzz Lightyear to defeat the evil Zurg.

As we have in years past, with teamwork we managed to put Zurg where he belongs...

march 2012

Immediately following the excitement of clearing the universe of evildoers, we headed on for what I think is our all time family favorite...Space Mountain.

When we were trying to figure out what we wanted to do for dinner, we realized there was an opportunity for Nicholas to meet his very favorite character.

And that meet and greet inspired some browsing for Stitch memorabilia in the Merchant of Venus.

while these two were crazy about a bunch of Stitch items, they had unwisely already blown their Christmas money from Grandpa and only had a small amount from Uncle Josh to spend.  Maybe next time they'll listen to our suggestions to hold on to some money before a big trip...
Our last (new experience for Nicholas ~ we did a few repeats) ride of the day was the Astro Orbiter.

Soaring high above Tomorrowland is a great way to wind a fun day down.

Wouldn't you know that the 4th grade is studying Peter Pan right now.  Currently the ride is closed for refurbishment, but it is supposed to open before our last day on Friday.  Nicholas sure hopes so, he has his heart set on riding it...

6:48pm and we're wrapping the day up.  Not even close to our 15 hour record set in 2015, but we decided to try a new approach this visit...pacing ourselves a bit over the week.

We capped the night with dinner at the All Star Sports Food Court and fell into bed to prepare for tomorrow's wizarding adventure!
