(In late 2003, Ian and I had the honor of touring the beaches of Normandy with a veteran, returning for the first time since 1944, who had stormed Utah Beach. We were deeply moved at his raw emotion that day. It took D-Day out of the history books and into my real life experience...even if just through the memories of one former soldier.)
