headed back

She's only officially been part of the M7 for three short months, but she is loved.  Oh is she loved!

Sigh.

I think tomorrow will be the 14th time I've sat in a waiting room chair for a child to come out of a surgical procedure under anesthesia.

And I still don't like it.  Not one bit.

Following Natalie's first eye surgery on November 8th, we knew that a follow-up surgery to implant a Baerveldt tube shunt was likely.  We just had hoped that it would be a little further out.

Unfortunately at the one week post-op appointment, Natalie's right eye pressure was still over 40.  Numbers that high likely cause headaches and nausea ~ though Natalie doesn't complain about either...probably because her body has become used to them over the years ~ and put considerable strain on the optic nerve.

Dr. F didn't want to waste any more time, so we were back on the surgical schedule as quickly as possible.

And tomorrow it is.

So would you lift up some quick prayers for my girl when you read this?

Prayers that she won't be frightened when we return to the surgical center, prayers that she won't be upset over not getting to eat tomorrow as we don't even check in until 10:30 (surgery at 12:30), prayers that the implant will go well, prayers that this will be the solution to lowering the pressure, prayers that the optic nerve will go back to the original shape and vision will be restored, prayers that the recovery period will go well, and most importantly, prayers that we will be able to step back and view the bigger picture.

We trust in Him who created her, we know He has big plans for her.
