ray of sunshine

This morning Maya nosed my side of the bed earlier than I wanted to be up.  The looming rainclouds made me want to roll over and go back to sleep, but I decided I could use a little fresh air and went ahead and got out of bed.  As Maya and I stepped out the front door, I considered an umbrella, but decided I didn't feel like juggling it, my phone, my keys and the leash and left it at home.

Halfway around the block I regretted that decision when the bottom dropped out of the sky.  It wasn't just rain, it was EPIC rain.  Like I could have washed my hair in it if I'd had shampoo in hand kind of rain.  By the time I got back to the house, I. was. SOAKED.

Not a great way to start my Monday.

Expecting a reply from a travel buddy this morning, I checked my email as I waited for Ian to get out of the shower.

An unexpected message from my rockstar social worker brought a smile to my face even as water continued to drip from my hair.  Suddenly the rain didn't matter one bit.

Because waiting for me were not one...

...but TWO...

new pictures of Natalie smiling out at me.

And y'all, in the brief update, along with new measurements and some other great information, it says, "We love Yunyun and we think she is such an active, adorable girl."

She's being loved...not standard practice in an institution, and from her expression she feels pretty.  I can't express how thankful I am that she's in an SWI where her caretakers are kind and loving and have helped to boost her confidence.

Talk about a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day!

Hi Kristi,
This is the first time I have posted after following along with your precious family for about a year. It takes me awhile to get over feeling a little shy.:)
Our family adopted our daughter from China in 2005. Anna is now 9 years old. She is a joy and completes our family! We also have two grown sons, one 27 yrs. and one 33 yrs. our oldest lives in Charlotte, N. Carolina and youngest in Michigan, where we live.
I was so happy to see the photos of your newest daughter, Natalie! What a Beautiful gift to add to your growing family of Treasures!
It is so fun to see their precious faces and watch them grow.:) I've always thought your Kylie looks like you and Darcy's darling smile so much her Daddy's! God is so marvoulous to not only set the loney in families but so often the children resemble their Momma's and Daddy's.
I'll be praying for your family as your time to travel approaches and that the transition with Natalie goes smoothly.

God Bless you all,
hollym.:)
