Well, the first day of school for the 2012-2013 school year has come and gone.
And I'm really happy to report that we survived.
(Who am I kidding ~ we all know I was the only one in jeopardy of survival. The kids were fine...)
Monday was the big day for Kylie. While there were some early morning jitters, just like last year, anything is better with one of your best friends by your side!
While she became really unsure upon arrival at her class, when I saw her after school, I knew it was all going to be okay. She met me with a grin from ear to ear and practically shouted, "First grade is the BEST grade EVER!"
The second day she busily gave me a kiss, as we got close to the school, brushed me off, and then walked away with Lottie without casting me a second glance. I think we're in for a good year for her.
Today was their turn.
By this morning he was super excited and she was even somewhat looking forward to the day. Me? Notsomuch thank you. I mean, they walked into my life as two year olds. Couldn't I just keep them home two more years to make up for my lost time?
('Course when I suggested that I got an exasperated "Moooommm!" ~ complete with the eye roll you may expect from them).
((Can't blame a mom for trying...))
Our county has a policy against putting siblings in the same class. In a fun surprise this morning though, my "twins" had been placed in the same room for their assessment. Apparently a common last name and birthdays five months apart threw the planners for a loop. And they were in the room in which a friend of ours from the pool is the assistant. Couldn't have asked for a better first day experience. (Both for them and for me ~ the assistant's husband texted me around 2 to say, "My source tells me that your kindergartners are having a great day!") They both came home exhausted but gushing about all the fun they had. DQ had even drawn her big sister a picture during some of her spare time.
(Makes my heart swell that my kids love each other!)
Of course, this post wouldn't be complete without a picture of our entire walking crew.
Oh the delightful surprises God brings when we open our hearts to receive His blessings!

I agree, we should get a few extra years when they come home as 2 year olds :) Sounds like the M's had good first days. Hope you and wee one had a good first day at home!
Okay, stop it, stop it, stop it, stop it, stop it!!!! They cannot all be that big! I mean, I KNOW that they are...I've seen them with my very own eyes...but that last photo just kills me. And CORRIE?? She was just a little baby last summer!
As much as I wish WE were a part of that "walking to school" group, it still boggles my mind and heart to be a part of the group that started it all. I just can't tell you all how much I love you!

Horray for everyone's first day. Thanks to Leslie for having you and Daniel meet her for lunch and time for the kids to play. God is good!

LOL. I have the same lunch box as Darcy! I bought it to take my snacks to college with me. I'm in classes from 9:25 to somewhere between 3:00 and 4:30, with only 10 minute breaks between classes, so snacks are a must. So you can let her know she has a big kid lunch box (I'm almost 22, and I got the same one. :) )

Wow! Three in school? I don't know how you do it! I'm still having a hard time adjusting to Noah being gone half days. Love the photo of the twins giggling!
