Sunday Snapshot {through his eyes}

I don't know exactly why, but I *heart* the fair.  I really, really do.  I suspect it is part the smells and tastes of yummy (and unhealthy) food, part the thrill of the rides, part the crowd that reminds me of a land far away, and even part "the carnies" that make the fair what it is.

Yes, I said that I love the carnies.  In fact, my cousin Jordan, Ian and I were discussing that a life on the road bringing the fair to people may not be that bad of a life.  But I digress...

This year, for the third year in a row, I got to experience it all "for the first time" again though the eyes of my youngest child.

Rides?

the boys picked the ride ~ monster trucks
the girls picked the color of their vehicle ~ sparkly PINK
with this expression i'm slightly fearful of when he turns 16...

"the dragon wagon" rules ~ wee one called it the dinosaur train

swings AND cousin jordan?  almost too much excitement for one ride
spinning his balloon as fast as he can with jie jie's help
most rides she volunteered to ride with him to keep him safe and help him not be scared ~ what a great big sis!
the way we finished our evening
dq chose the teacups with cousin jordan
His expression seemed to say "yes please, may I have another?" after each one!

Food?
cotton candy at the fair ROCKS!
apparently DQ still loves it
the aftermath of his highest ranking treat ~ a candy apple
Oh yeah!

Combine that with loads of animals so we could sing Old McDonald at the top of our lungs (who cares if folks stare, they already do anyway) with giant pumpkins & watermelons and he was sold.

That my friends is a good thing.  Because there are three other kids in this family that are too.

(And since you asked, yes, of course I do have pictures to prove it!)

they have no idea who the smurfs are, but this photo opp helped distract during the long line for the dragon tea cups

not sure which is funnier, her driving style or his expression
**For the record, yes, Caleb should have been wearing an eye patch.  But fair day was just three days into his therapy.  With his vision still so poor with just his one eye, I decided to give him a "get out of patching free" card for the afternoon.  We'll do penance Dr. M, I promise...**

thrilled to be riding with his biggest hero

roller coaster junkies

sitting with cousin jordan on the ferris wheel

and he may not be my kid, but we think jordan had fun too...
(oh, and jordan, i really hope you weren't counting on this one hitting the cutting room floor)
Yes, it's a good thing that the fair through his eyes looks like a lot of fun.  Because it sure would be a shame to drag someone out against their will for state fair 2012...

I think it is the best thing in the world to watch our children experience all their new "firsts" after they arrive home!
Looks like the whole family had a great time!!!

Hey thanks for visiting my blog today, I saw your soccer post the other day. I am glad you guys had such a fun family day at the fair. I grew up at that fair, use to show my horse on Appaloosa day and youth day every year. Great memories.

It's not often you get to use the word "carnie" in a blog post. The M6 are always going somewhere fun!!! Sounds like the fair was a hit with the newest M. His pictures/expressions are priceless.

I too am a big fair lover. The National Peanut Festival is held here in our town. It is one of my very favorite times of the year. I look forward to splurging on crappy food and the sights and the sounds as well. You have now stirred my excitement.

And btw, the pic of Daniel with his fist pump to the air on that motorcycle is PRICELESS!! :)
