On love

If you're a regular here at Fireworks and Fireflies, I'm pretty sure you've got the idea that I love my children.

taken June 29 ~ our third night as the M6
But long before I loved the four of them, I loved this guy.

And yet it's been a season of putting "the new kid" first at home instead of focusing on our relationship.  I've missed my honey in this time of adjustment.

Last Friday night we had our first date night since before we left to bring Daniel home.  It was hard to leave the wee one behind, but keeping our marriage strong is key to me being a good mommy.  We lingered over a long dinner, enjoyed each other's company while shopping, and even indulged a bit by heading to a creperie for dessert.  It felt good to be able to concentrate on my main squeeze for a few hours and yet still be home in time to tuck in our four blessings.

Thanks Grandma M for holding down the fort while we reconnected.

Having some trouble with Google posting this comment so will try again!!

It was my pleasure to keep the kids for an evening - they were great. Now that I know how the 4 remotes work, movie night will be simpler :)
Love you all, Grandma M

Good for you!!! We're better parents when we make time for our marriages (and when the kiddies are all grown up and on their own, you'll be glad you made the effort to stay connected with your honey!!!!!)

Thanks for the reminder! I think I need to schedule a little night out for me and the hubs too! I know it seems so far away right now, but one day? Your OLDEST will be your babysitter! Sweet!

I love date nights!!!! tell Grandma to come my way and babysit!!!! Actually, my kind neighbor watched my kids. She told me to go get dressed up and go out with my hubby and she and my kids would have pizza and a movie. So sweet of her since we don't have the convenience of grandparents!

SO important. My hubbs and I need to focus on that 'alone' time more... a date night would be good for us, too. We rarely take that time to just focus on us, so I think we need to set one in the making! Thanks for the reminder on how very important this time is.

Glad you had such a wonderful evening alone together and were still able to be home in time to tuck your little loves into bed! Sounds like a PERFECT evening!
