How many sleeps?

Today marks two weeks until we are on a plane, making our way to the littlest member of our family.  Fourteen days still seems like a long time, but with all the things that still need to be done ~ packing, collecting all our gifts, stocking our traveling pharmacy, tying up loose ends in travel details, squeezing in a reunion with Ky's travel group this weekend, and the regular routine of "what's for dinner... ~ we realize it is going to fly.
For the kiddos however?  Well, I think it is fair to say that time isn't flying quite so fast for them.  And I'm pretty sure that we have answered the "When do we get to go meet Daniel?" question more times than I can count at this point.
So yesterday I made them a visual.  Each morning when we wake up we'll be pulling off one link.  (Color coordinated of course by each child's current favorite color so that everyone gets the same number of links to break).
As she is the oldest, this first morning was Kylie's turn.  Once her link was gone we recounted how many sleeps are left until we leave.  When we got 'all the way' to 14, Caleb sighed and said, "Mommy, can't we just take them all off today so we can go?"

I wish sweet boy, I wish...

So exciting! I know exactly how you feel. We are trying to pack for China and pack to head to either San Antonio or DC before flying, depending on what hospital they are taking our son-in-law to. Anxious to get to China and hold our youngest but also anxious to put my arms around our oldest.

LOVE those pictures!! Love seeing the kids so excited to go meet Daniel. And seriously? I think you should win some award for taking FOUR kids on a plane for 15 hours. I mean, really, an AWARD!! :)

Oh my goodness! SO EXCITING! Whose favorite color is yellow? Mine is too! :)

Oh Kristi, words cannot express how surreal it is to me that you are about to go back to China! And WITHOUT ME!!!!!!! I am more thankful than ever that God timed it for us to be there together last year!

Okay...'bout to make myself cry. Praying for you!

I love your visual! And I totally get the color coded links and an even amount of them for each child. We are right there with ya. :) So wishing we were right there with ya in leaving in 2 weeks. But alas, we are not! SO excited for you, friend!!!!

What a clever idea with the links. We will be thinking of you and are so excited for you, Ian and the kids. Hopefully we will have computer access and be able to "hear" the news about Daniel. We'll be taking S & B back to SC in July so we no doubt will have to detour again. XO's

I can't wait for you to meet Daniel either! Still need someone to travel with you???? I can't go, but I really wish I could. That seriously would have been awesome if it would have worked out! Hope you have a great time! I mean... I hope I talk to you before you leave, but if I don't, then have a great time! Love you!

Congrats on being down to the final count on your adoption! I have followed your blog mainly for timelines, as we are adopting a little girl from China too.

I love the idea of the paper chain! I cried thinking about how special and momentous that day will be to know when the end of the waiting has come! CONGRATS to all of you...enjoy you new addition!

God bless your family,
Angie
