treasured visit

While I enjoy the anticipation of visits with family and friends on the calendar weeks or even months ahead of time, slightly last minute visits are fun too!  We were blessed with one such visit yesterday and this morning as Emma's family made their way home from a funeral.  Our "neck of the woods" in NC isn't really on the way between Delaware and Alabama, but we're glad they decided that a day of fellowship was worth the detour!

we started our time together with a little walk/ride around the block

dq got into the action of helping as we took the shortcut across the baseball field ~ riding in grass isn't the easiest...

a brother doing what brothers sometimes seem to do best ~ note emma's expression.  i think she was glad in that moment that her brother is 14 and doesn't irritate her for the sake of it

my big kids being big helpers.  caleb started to win emma back over at this point.

seems like just yesterday that ky was learning to use this digger, now she's helping a friend

a little static action

emma thought kylie was pretty cool

blow flower anyone?  dq passed out flower after flower for our wish blowing enjoyment

emma finally decided caleb was someone to be trusted and reached up for his hand ~ caught him a little off guard at first, but he just went with it.  total melt your heart moment!

and what's a visit with friends on a nice day without a rousing game of duck, duck, goose?  mr. chuck was a great sport!

"china sisters" blowing bubbles together
In the brief not quite 24 hours they were here, we managed to squeeze in all that outside fun, share a few meals, spend time in fellowship, AND introduce them to our local frozen custard place (trying to convince them that NC is nicer than AL after all...).

All too soon it was time for them to load into their own silver 'Swagger Wagon' and head on south.  Just so long as they (along with any of our other friends) know that at the M house, the door is always open...

[Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art, like the universe itself (for God did not need to create). It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things which give value to survival.]  ~ C.S. Lewis

Thank you so VERY much "M" family! I don't think Emma would have made a fourth day in a row in the car without such a sweet fellowship and 'play-break.' :0) And we are so grateful you were willing to open your doors and hearts during such a busy time. We love you! And we send BIG hugs this Easter weekend and everyday!! :0)
