Yesterday we had a rare sighting in these parts.
No, not fairies in the hands of humans. That we see everyday.
Rather the unusual sighting was a denim clad Ky.
My big girl has an aversion to jeans.
Me? I'd live in them and never wear anything else.
Her? Not so much...
But yesterday, when we were headed to a park where I figured the siren song of the sand box would call, she sighed and said, "Okay mommy. I'll wear jeans. But only if I can change as soon as we get home." when I suggested that sand would brush off of a pair of jeans easier than leggings.
And change she did. But not before I snapped a few pictures of the unusual event ~ after all, it may be another three months before I convince her to wear them again. It almost looked like she was enjoying herself. Maybe I'll convert her to being a blue jean lover yet.
Never mind that she's wearing tights under the jeans on a 65 degree day...
(Ky, I know there will probably come a day when I wish I could get you out of jeans. I taught middle school for 10 years, I know these things. Just wanted to document how you liked to dress just before you turned five)

So cute...
She looks cute! I wonder what clothes aversions our kids will have. Me, I'd prefer a pair of sweatpants! :)
As you know, the story is EXACTLY the same at our house!! Ky looks ADORABLE in jeans!!
This is Melissa's friend, Amy from Hershey. My friend's daughter from China (not that it is a China girl thing) also dislikes jeans and she is in 4th grade. I think it is so funny as that is all the kids wear by that age. She has yoga pants that she calls "softies" that she wants to wear all the time and says that jeans are just not comfortable. So, who knows, Ky is just all about comfort, like Haley, I guess. They just need to meet a nice pair of soft jeans!
LeighAnna wouldn't wear jeans until she was 5. She preferred the knit pants I got from Target. Now she loves them. It was slow transformation but now she tells perfect strangers, "I can wear skinny jeans when I'm 7!" Ugh.
Our biggest problem with jeans is that we can hardly find any long enough that don't fall off of her or don't have enough room for two kids in the behind! We finally discovered Target's brand of jeans will cinch up enough without too much extra room in the hiney. BUT my real discovery was in a pair of clearance size 4 slim jeans off the Gymboree rack...fit her like a dream!!! And I paid under $10 for that pair!! I'll be scouting for more of those deals!!
p.s. Kylie, you look adorable in jeans! But you look adorable in anything! I am giggling over the tights under the jeans, though. And I will love seeing you go through your jeans stage and your sweats stage and your purple eyeshadow stage.
My middle schooler was just telling me how much she hates jeans. I'm ready to hide her pants so her only choice is jeans. Anah only wears them for the fashion. She changes the minute she walks in the door. :)
miss you guys...
Beth
I sympathize with the poor girl! I HATE jeans! I dislike the feel, the stiffness, all of it... But, leggins aren't necessarily made for a girl my age so I endure winter. I'd rather wear a skirt anyday... yet these days its not warm enough.
I'm wishing away this season to a season with warmer temps so I can pull out those skirts and flip flops and be free again!
Until then...
I'm a disgruntled denim wearer.
:)
My husband only started wearing jeans recently. It took years to convince him that sometimes a job requires jeans....like playing in the sandbox! Enjoy your weekend.
I can't get my KM to where jeans either!!
Ky is so stinkin' cute!
Kylie, you look 'marvelous' in your denim girl! :0) Yes, there will come the day when jeans are the fashion statement and norm, not the unusual, and know that we love you dressed in your adorable tights, leggings or denim sweet girl.
Too cute!
And that Wordless Wednesday post below? Oh my goodness he is such a doll...and those dress up pic they just added on the scrapbook...your heart must be BURSTING!
Wow! I am speechless!I can't believe you got her to wear them!
