There are days when waiting for Daniel to be here seems bearable. Not ever easy mind you, but bearable.
The period we are in right now though? Not so bearable...
Somehow it is easier to stomach when there is something to be doing. When I can push papers around it at least feels like we're being productive.
Even our kids are feeling restless right now. The other night Kylie said, "Do you know what one thing that was wrong with Christmas this year Mommy?"
I had no idea where she was going with that thought, and then found myself glad I was in the driver's seat of the van to wipe tears when she replied (without giving me a chance to guess), "We were missing Daniel. Next Christmas will be better with him at home!"
And as I tried to compose myself enough to say like, "Yes honey, it will be better," she plows over my thoughts with, "Mommy, what is taking so long? Can't you just do some paperwork to make it faster?"
Which rubbed salt in the wound that I'm "waiting" for immigration just as fast as I can...
Ugh. I don't like the phases that are totally out of my control.
Anyway, that's where we are right now. Waiting for our own government to pre-approve us to bring a child into the country as a citizen. Just that one little piece of paper so that we can wrap up this paper chase. Of course sending our dossier over will bring us to being in another state of "un-control" as we wait for a second government to give approval, but at least that will be one step closer to having Daniel here with us.
But today we were given a little boost in the wait. Because today while we were at the zoo enjoying a "bonus Daddyday," a sweet bloggy friend sent me twenty-nine (yes, TWENTY NINE) pictures of our sweetie that she took when she met him back in November. And her phone number with an invitation to call her so that she can share with me her recollections of both his personality and his home province (her son was from there as well). There is a long ~ and very legitimate ~ story as to why those pictures were just sent to me today.

How very wonderful that you get to have recent pictures of your little guy as you wait (as well as his foster home blog.) I know the wait is unbearable at times. I pray that God will give you grace as things are never in our control. May you trust in His eternal plan.
The wait is so, so hard. So glad you know he is being so well cared for and you have access to so many photos of him! I see that little truck in his hand and think about your other "car enthusiast" and can't wait to see them together in action. :)
Praying for you!
What a blessing to get 29 pictures!
Isn't our God amazing?!! He is seldom early but NEVER late.
Aw I love that! Thank you Jesus!
I was just on Jenna's blog watching her gotcha day video...oh my. TEARS!
I'm so thankful you got this much needed boost during the immigration wait!
Here's another boost: our home study should be off to immigration in the next week! :)
Then I'll be in your waiting shoes. But no picture to dream over....sigh. God's timing is perfect, I know that!
Oh Kristi
You certainly are in the "ick" phase that I remember all too well with our adoptions. I'll be praying God "rests" your heart and gives you a peace. Those pics I am sure are priceless to you! He is absolutely so cute!
What a wonderful gift of 29 new photos. He is so precious and can't wait to see him in your arms where he belongs....
I actually think the wait (and waiting process) gets harder each time). What a treasure to have those pictures!
Love the picture! Glad you had something to brighten the wait....but I just have to say, how great it is that Daniel already has a little girl there fixing him just right. Will be great for the transistion to Kylie and Darcie and take some of the pressure off Caleb! :) haha...
hope all is well.
Beth :)
I don't think I can do it. I can't look at one list. I'm scared to death I'll find Mary-Kate, and I'll be in your shoes...knowing the face and WAITING. But I'm not so sure it's really better this way. My heart aches for the unknown, and some days, I wish I had a face to look at. Really, I just wish I were mailing out #500 and I could even start that paperwork!
TRULY, I am so grateful that you have those photos of Daniel!! How awesome!
And you know I want to see ALL 29!
I am so sorry, the waiting is so hard! But wow, what a boost, 29 pix of Daniel and just when you needed it!!!!
So happy for you my sweet friend. There is no encouragement like His encouragement! Praising Him with you.
What a gift!
Oh Kristi - I know your heart is heavy right now and I wish I could make it easier or quicker for that matter! We are yearning for a face to look at, and hope we are close too! Your Daniel is just precious and what a special gift of all of those pictures you received last night. (Guess they made us for the Hokie loss, huh??) Will pray for that approval to come SOON so that you are one step closer to your precious child!!! Hugs friend!!!
Wow, new pictures!!
Yes, the waiting is soooo hard, especially when there isn't a thing you can do to speed it along. I know exactly what you mean!
But what a blessing to get these little gifts along the way to keep you going! :)
Wow, 29 pictures!!! What a blessing today.
Julie
Kristi, I'm so happy for you guys!! Nothing beats pictures, especially during the wait!
Seems like God always does that...I remember in the days of short TA waits ours was long...5 weeks and I was about to lose my mind when a total "GOD" connection sent us recent pictures of Hudson..JUST what we needed to get us through the wait.
Christmas next year WILL be so sweet...
That is just lovely. And yeah... the out-of-our-control part. I am a little better at waiting during that time now, but oh, man is it still hard when I sit and think about it. You know, now that I'm thinking about it again, I must have been pretty horrific at it, or else God would probably not have kept us in this particular line. (((hugs)))
29?!?!?! Was that IT? What a slacker I am! :) Reading this post made me feel SO much less guilty for taking so long to get them to you! You're so gracious...but I am SO glad that it was a blessing to you!
Finally, I have you bookmarked so I don't misplace you....AND my internet seems to be working again!
Things are looking up! Can't wait to chat with you! :)
Always has a truck or car in his hand. That boy is going to fit right in with his boy playmates and brother!
He is so precious! I can't wait to meet him and squeeze those little cheeks!
