A mile with Miles (& Vivienne)

Into each ideal day a little exercise, a little rest, a little learning time fall in amongst the other daily components.  Yesterday we got the first two.

Two out of three ain't so bad...

The kids and I headed to spend part of the morning with our 'former' Sunday lunch friend Leslie.  (Former as in after church lunch has been temporarily sidelined by the addition of her two PRECIOUS babies, not former as in we aren't friends anymore).  On the agenda:  a mile or so walk on the greenway, providing fresh air for all five kids and exercise for my three.  Added bonus?  Conversation with another adult during the workday!

For whatever reason, Caleb and Darcy wanted to race ahead of us and climb any fence they saw.  By any fence, I mean all of them that we passed.  Every. single. one.  But their cute little voices requesting that I 'take a pee-chur moh-my' was worth the extra time the walk took.  (Besides, that added to the coveted conversation time!)

Where was Kylie you ask?  Well, if you really know her, you know exactly where she was.

One step away from the babies in the stroller of course!

If someone's blanket was falling down, Kylie would tuck it back in and then ask Leslie, "Was that helpful Ms. Leslie?  Do you think Vivienne was getting cold?"  She LOVES those babies and is fascinated by them.

When we got back to the house, Ky was hanging close to baby Vivienne who had fallen asleep at the end of our walk.  I however had the chance to steal a few cuddles from sweet Miles before he dozed off in my arms.

obviously i didn't take this one ~ totally lifted it from Leslie's blog
It's true you know, there is NOTHING sweeter than the 'sack of potatoes' feeling of a sleeping baby ~ or even preschooler I may add ~ in your arms.

Caleb and Darcy entertained themselves with baby toys while Kylie continued to hover over the babies.

can someone tell my sweet girl to STOP GROWING UP SO FAST!!!
I'm thinking (sigh) that it won't be too long until she's babysitting.
Hopefully we'll get back into the regular preschool swing tomorrow...

What a lovely walk. Each child doing their own thing. Darcy and Caleb - that looks like so pretty big fences that you climbed. You are so brave. Kylie, you are a sweet little "mother". Leslie's babies are adorable. Can see why Kylie loves them so much.

Sweet times! Kylie reminds me of Katie Lyn when she was that age....always with the younger babies, mothering and coddling and caring. She is still that way!

Our weather hasn't been so conducive to being outside this week...wet and chilly. Plus runny noses and coughs. So we are ready for some sunshine!

Maggie is the exact same way with babies. She LOVES them and is always trying to ram a paci in their mouths or cover them up. She is also a big fan of feeding babies.

Well, goodness, hasn't Kylie gotten any requests to baby-sit yet? :) Jk. Let's give her a few years first! Good grief, I don't want to start feeling old, that's something old people do!
