You're four!

Hmm...  Somehow it happened.  I blinked my eyes and it went from you turning three to turning four in a flash.  Last night as I came in to sneak my last kiss your little hands still clutched tightly to the cucumber and tomato you lifted from the play kitchen.  In your eyes those are no regular plastic vegetables but rather Larry and Bob.  This morning your first words to me were "Mommy, I bigger Darcy?" after you asked her to stand next to you.  And when I told you that you weren't quite taller yet, you got a very serious frown on your face and asked me why.  I love how your little mind works!

For days you said that you wanted to go to the pool to swim for your birthday, but this morning when it came down to it, you chose to stay home and play cars with your daddy.  Sometimes your contentment here and your true admiration and love for your earthly father almost overwhelms me.  I could learn so much from you!

You excitedly opened and played with each gift you received and then considered your lunch at "Chick-a-lay" the finest gourmet our city has to offer.  Then nap time hit you hard, as it usually still does.  You slept for nearly three hours with your newest McQueen tightly clutched in your hand.

While you're still not as tall as Darcy Q, you have grown so much in the past year.  It won't be much longer that you'll fit across the foot of Darcy's bed for your rest time.  And your sweet piggies ~ oh how they've grown!

Tonight we feasted on 'split ham soup,' 'dump-eens' (potstickers) and roasted cauliflower as it was your night to select the menu.  We finished up the day by going to your favorite ice cream place where you got 'ba-nilla wif emmies on nit.'

All in all, I think you loved being celebrated today.  I know that the rest of us had fun celebrating you!  And for just a little while today, I think you thought you could fly.

Making a few rounds through the house wearing his new 'Larry Boy' cape.  Thanks Aunt C for sewing it for me!

May you never give up that dream!

I love you my darling son!

Darling he is, that's for sure! And those feet- what size shoe is he wearing? STOP growing, Caleb!! As I write this I see the picture of the 4 of you (what a tiny family you were- tee hee!), and he looks like a BABY!

Happy birthday Caleb! Goodness me, what big feet you have - what size shoe are you wearing? Your mom did such a great job of telling you all about your fourth birthday. You're going to treasure those memories. Ever since we had dinner with you, we eat cauliflower the same way although I still have not been able to get my children to relish quite the way you do. Our Isaac is also crazy for dumplings. Does your mom get you the Ling Ling brand? Those are our favorites.
Happy birthday,
Melanie, David, Indigo and Isaac

seeing him do laps in that cape was something special! What a cool boy! I miss you already.

And if it doesn't work out that I intern in Raleigh next year, I will have to find a way to keep with the tradition I have set of being there each year for your birthday! I think a plane ticket might be needed if I'm too far away! Hopefully that doesn't happen.

Love you little man!

My precious, Caleb - you can fly!
Your enthusiasm for life is a good reminder to Grandma that my life is so full of blessings and that it what I need to focus on every day.

I don't KNOW any four year old who would ask for that menu for his birthday dinner. Will your kids eat ANYTHING?
