Back home

It was another good one.

Labor Day weekend that is.  One look at the forecast for sunny, blue sky weather and we knew there was just one place to go.

Home.

Don't get me wrong.  I am very happy in the geographical location in which we currently reside.  We have close friends, a wonderful church community, and a great little neighborhood.  Our life here is full and happy.

But I now understand why Mama always got excited the days leading up to a week long trip to Frostburg, MD when I was a kid.  Because where your mama and sister live, there will always be a part of your heart also...

So this weekend we went home for a few days.  Mama's house was busting at the gills with my crew plus my sister's crew, my mom-in-love, and the various assortment of friends and extended family that came by to visit.

It was chaos.

And it was wonderful!

We swam, ate, watched Cars "on the hill" (sorta a country version of a drive-in), visited with precious friends at our old church, assembled a swing set, figured out how many kids really can float on a giant turtle,

and then watched the kids play, and play, and play some more.  That pretty much sums up our 48 hours home.

A few years ago parking my car for pretty much 48 hours would have made me insane.  But in this season of life, it was relaxing.  And it was fun.

How much fun?

Fall asleep while sunning yourself like a turtle kind of fun...

Okay, not really...glad to hear you're back from a fun weekend. Now stop pestering me with your accomplished blogging ways so I can go work on my OWN blog. :-)

Many, many times over the last 20 years I have ached for my family to be close enough to go to for 48 hours. SO glad you can do that....looks like heaven!

What a blessed weekend it was. Having both of my daughters, husbands and their 5 children was like heaven. Nieces, great nieces and nephews and friends made it perfect. The big turtle was really fun for the kids. Laughing, eating, playing....
