Following Darcy's TB test reading we had about 3 1/2 hours to ourselves on Shamian Island. On our way up to the White Swan we stopped by Jennifer's Place for a little shopping. Many of the other shops on that street (the one that is perpendicular to the White Swan ~ yes, I just used perpendicular on my blog...) are completely gone. That made me sorta sad as I remember dropping about $50 on squeaky shoes in a courtyard behind a gate with Cindy by my side...
Then we decided to brave a "red couch photo session" by ourselves. It makes me sad that we couldn't seem to organize a group picture there. At any rate the shoot was an exercise in frustration. We'd manage to get two cooperating while the third would be a clown. And the cooperators/clown roles switched over and over again. I'm thinking that I won't even make an effort at Christmas card pictures until they are at least ten...But we did manage to get a few shots (out of 108) that I like. Not that I love, but that I'll live with. (And of course a few that show just what Ian and I were ~ and will continue to be ~ up against when the "wonder triplet powers" activate).

Not "the shot" I envisioned, but I'm calling it my favorite of the group, even if Caleb's Starburst bribe is showing.
From there we did a little more shopping, picking up some more silk for Darcy for the future and a few jade bracelets and necklaces for her as she gets older. Last night ended up being a quiet night in the room. We had a gourmet dinner consisting of noodles, peanut butter bagels, and cookies from our snack stash. We played cars, dress-up, colored in books, and watched the Olympics. It was a great family night and Ian and I promised ourselves that we will slow down when we get back home and enjoy more nights like it ~ though I may cook something other than noodles...
**My poor little guy has asked for "flower" (his favorite oven roasted cauliflower) at nearly every meal. Kylie is requesting broccoli with dip (she loves to dip her steamed broccoli in balsamic vinegar), and man am I having a hankering for salad!

Aww...I love your non-traditional red couch pictures! I was so disappointed that we couldn't find the famous couch. Now I wish we just would have asked someone but we were worried they wouldn't appreciate it , since were weren't guests at the White Swan. I think your shots are just precious!!!!

I like pictures with personalities....and yes, I can take a hint on the food requests. Let me know if there are anymore. I plan on cooking most of Thursday before we leave......And I am guessing it is still ranch you like with your salads??

The pictures are great...and I hate to bust your bubble but the last good picture I have of the kids together was about 9 years ago...I think it gets WORSE as they get older...especially those teenage boys...they really hate to smile. BUT...your Caleb may prove me wrong...they are precious....
THose are fun. Will you make me a list of things we should buy for the kids while we are in Taiwan?

I found your blog via the Xianning website and have been following it since you brought Caleb home. Congratulations on your adoption of Darcy, and thank you so much for continuing to blog throughout your trip! I can't imagine how you do it! One word of caution about Kylie's balsamic vinegar "dip"--there have been recent reports of lead in balsamic and red wine vinegar. I'm in Calif., where Prop. 65 requires warning labels for these items. Granted, the amounts are very small, but where kids are concerned, and over time, there could be effects. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall at the White Swan for this photo shoot! I do love the pictures though - what personality your kids have!!! Hmmmm...I wish I lived closer to make some of your favorite foods when you come home!!!
