The Beauty of Sisterhood

Miriam Webster defines sisterhood as, " the solidarity of women based on shared conditions, experiences, or concerns." This is how I will justify answering "Yes," when people ask me if they are "real sisters."

Sisters for less than 24 hours at this point. It's almost as though their souls have been connected for all time...

"To have a loving relationship with a sister is not simply to have a buddy or a confident, it is to have a soulmate for life."
- Victoria Secunda
Two happy princesses helped one another select their outfits and get dressed.

"Having a sister is like having a best friend you can't get rid of. You know whatever you do, they'll still be there."
- Amy Li
They stood twirling and singing a song they made up together, part English, part Mandarin, for nearly ten minutes.

"There can be no situation in life which the conversation of my dear sister will not administer some comfort to me."
- Mary Montagu
No, I did not ask Darcy to put her arms around Kylie. It was totally a spontaneous moment that I was lucky to catch because I had the camera close at hand.

"If you don't understand how a woman could both love her sister dearly and want to wring her neck at the same time, then you probably were an only child."
- Linda Sunshine

The way that each of these quotes rings true of my experience with my own sister is a huge part of why I never wanted Kylie to be an only child. A sister ship bond is one to treasure. How blessed am I to see the beginning of a beautiful relationship between Kylie and Darcy within the first 36 hours? Praise be to God!

These pictures are beautiful! The smiles on those faces- just adorable! I guess now you just need a brother for Caleb. I hear brotherly love is pretty cool too! :)

Wow, Darcy is adjusting so well!!! It's wonderful to "watch" her and Kylie loving on each other. Kristi, it's obvious already that Darcy is special.....her entire face lights up with her expressions. She looks to be very passionate!! What a gift!!

Beautiful indeed! I wish I had a sister. I'm so excited that you are all doing so well. Only you would think far enough ahead to scout out sister quotes and file them away, knowing this was coming. I'm so impressed. I LOVE how beautiful they look in their princess clothes! And the first picture...just adorable!

I agree with Laurie, ha!! Again you have brought me to tears ... would you stop that please! Those face are priceless and that Darcy is such a beautiful girl. Kylie no doubt has such a loving spirit and will be an incredible big sister (good times and bad, ha) Praising God with you my friend. Can't wait to see more (really I was hoping to see Caleb in a dress too - is it only my son that likes to play with the princess shoes and dresses and only my daugthers that dress him up, ha)

WOW! I'm loving that photo of the girls! That is a precious keepsake for all time! It really is just amazing how she's already fitting in...but, then, are we really surprised or just in awe of how amazing our God is at weaving our life stories?

Love you! Miss you!

Truly beautiful! It would appear if your little family was always meant to be just one child bigger! I am so happy for you all.

A blog friend from Chicago is in China at the moment adopting her daughter, Sophie Yue and she is just as cute as Darcy too!
