"...our talking cousins..."

There's a lot of excitement about new additions to the family right now! Not only are Kylie and Caleb thrilled about having a new sister (They talk about her AT LEAST twenty times a day ~ they discuss what games they will play with her and where she will sit and what they will teach her and how they will help her not be scared when we meet. Caleb even refers to her as "my Darcy"), but they are also pretty excited about the idea of cousins.

Their excitement about Pierson and Maylin got stepped up a notch this week. Friday night Adam and Traci had the opportunity to Skype with their children. They had been warned by their agency that the kids may not be very interactive (you know, language barriers and being strange looking and all) but it ended up being wonderful. The conversation lasted about an hour. They "walked" Pierson and Maylin all over their house so that they could see their new rooms, introduced them to Chaucer (the dog), and sang Happy Birthday complete with a cake which they had the kids "blow out the candles." They even had several virtual family hugs. (There is so much more precious stuff I could share, but I'm respecting privacy...)

And because much of the rest of the family was dying to be there to witness the conversation, the recorded the beginning of it. Yesterday we finally got a link to the clip via email and I cried as I watched my sister "meet" her children for the very first time. And then as soon as my kids woke up, I asked them if they wanted to watch a movie on my computer. They watched it, immediately identified their "talking cousins" (as opposed to their "picture cousins") and then asked to watch it again, and again, and again. It ended up being a nine time repeat...
In this one I think Kylie actually thought Maylin was talking to her. It was so cute to watch my guys get even more excited about their cousins. Caleb stood and said, "Ni Hao!" every time they did. Every time!

Funny to think that both of my mom's daughters may be in Asia at the same time, meeting her third, fourth, and fifth grandchildren...

What a wonderful thing to be able to do! I know your sister and brother in law are just about to bust to get those kiddies home. Praying it won't be much longer.

WOW, how cool is that?? Not only did your sister and BIL get to meet their kids but they recorded it for the rests of the family! That's pretty wild to think your mom will go from a grandma of 2 to 5 in a very short time!!! She must be very excited!

WOW! I had no idea they would allow conversations! That is wonderful!

I love that this is something that you can share in with your sister. It must be so great to have someone who "gets it" in your family.
