My trick-or-treaters

It may have been the first trick-or-treating experience for both Caleb and Henry (last Halloween both of our families were in flight from out provincial capitals to Guangzhou) but they learned the ropes quickly from their big sisters. The cul de sac we visited brought back so many happy memories of my own childhood and ringing doorbells in costume myself! In the end we came home with two sugared up kids who were giggling about "ding-dong ticker-teet" from their car seats. Thank goodness for the extra hour of sleep...

My "buzzing" bumble bee and "ribbit-ribbit" frog. (Actually, Darby explained that he was a tree frog and that she knew it because he had the reddish eyes ~ this bit of animal planet information courtesy of Diego!)

My best offering of all four ~ I could do an entire post of outtakes alone!
The big sisters were ready to lead the way ~ Darby is actually looking back to find Henry.
The first house.

We visited several of Darby and Henry's neighbors, made a stop by our lifegroup leaders' house, and then went to our senior pastor's cul de sac to catch a hot dog grill and and "old fashioned neighborhood" feel for trick or treating.

Caleb declared that he was done with the hat. In his defense it was right at 80 degrees until the sun went down... He wanted to shed the entire costume, but I drew the line in the sand with the threat that he'd get no more candy. Chocolate speaks volumes in his book!
This shot is just after the kids scarfed down their hot dogs and were ready to get serious about candy gathering.
The cutest bumble bee of 2009 ~ you shoulda heard her little buzz buzz!
I shoulda seen the signs as we went loud and clear ~ the candy snitching started early!

80 degrees?!!! Sheesh. It's been colder, but it's definitely been warmer. We were in the low 50s with a cold breeze, and we were out while it was still light! Caroline's hands were "FWEEZING!" Should have bought her gloves...

CUTE costumes! I love them both! Don't feel too bad about Caleb's hat. Caroline's tiara kept falling over her eyes.

They are ADORABLE! I SO love cute costumes instead of gross gory ones. Looks like they had a great time! I remember the sound of crunch leaves as we shuffled from house to house when I was a kid. FUN!
