A special bond

At first glance this foursome looks like just another sibling set of friends.

But this little group of four kids has a pretty special bond. They are after all, China brothers and sisters! The big sisters are both from the same county in the southwest corner of the Guangdong province and spent most of their first year of life in neighboring rooms in the same SWI. They met their first time parents on the same day in February 2007 in the same hot room in the Guangzhou Civil Affairs Office.
The big sisters, now close friends, spent their last day of being "only children" touring Beijing's Olympic Park and Forbidden City. And the little brothers, while from hundreds of miles apart across the vast country of China, met their parents on the same day in late October 2008 and then met each other five days later in the revolving restaurant over breakfast at the Asia International Hotel in Guangzhou.

In "adoption-land," traveling with the same family twice, especially when both sets of parents turned in second dossiers over a month apart, simply doesn't happen every day. And when you top that off with the fact that we now live in the same greater metro area, it is almost unheard of! Perhaps that's why Kylie considers Henry her second brother...
Happy Forever Family Day to the little brothers tomorrow!

Happy Family Day! (And did you know that one of the families from our travel group is logged in with the same agency, on the same day as us? I suspect we'll be in your shoes in about a year.)
