My girl

A few things about my girl lately...

Ordering pizza the other night ~ When I was ordering online, I was holding and trying to soothe a HUNGRY, tired Caleb. I asked Kylie if she would bring me the diaper bag (which contained my wallet) so that I could pay for the pizza. She was taking a long time and when she finally came around the corner, she wasn't holding the diaper bag ~ just the Disney credit card which had been in my wallet and when I was done she put it back in the right place! Guess she's seen me get it out of my wallet, use it, and put it /back a few too many times... Pretty smart girl!

Not just a pretty face, but a lot of thinking going on in this little head!

Suddenly Kylie is totally into tractors! Mid-week we had to make a run to the grocery to restock on apples and bananas. One of Kylie's special treats are fruit gummies. When we got ready to go to China she selected a box of Strawberry Shortcake ones for her and Nemo ones for Caleb. I told her that she could pick a new box and she skipped over Princesses, Cars, Scooby Doo, and even the Strawberry Shortcake ones again and went straight for the box of John Deere gummies. (Strange on two accounts ~ one, she was totally into them and two, they make John Deere gummies?) I thought it was a fluke until we went to our park and Kylie made her decision on which "springy toy" to ride on. She assigned Caleb to the frog, said that the squirrel looking thing was scary (I agree just because I'm not sure what animal it was) and she made a bee-line for the tractor.
Guess my "pink girl" is really a tomboy at heart!

She may be clamoring with her brother for my attention and affection, but despite Ian being at work so much lately, she is TOTALLY a Daddy's girl! It almost ripped out my heart when he was getting ready to leave and she asked if she could go help him pack (just to spend extra time with him).
I said that almost ripped out my heart because the entire time he was putting clothes into the suitcase she kept saying, "I miss you Daddy!" and not in a whiny or even childlike manipulative way, just an honest statement of how she felt. That my friends ripped it out...
This picture was taken at the park mid-week, but it pretty much is the same expression she had on her face as her Daddy backed out of the driveway on his way to Texas. Thank goodness that after he gets home his hours drop back to a normal 9 to 5 engineering job!

Most importantly, she must be getting caught up on rest because she's tolerating much more from Caleb and actually is trying to help me soothe him again during his 20 to 30 minute spell a day (usually shortly after he wakes up from nap) of intense grieving. Both yesterday and today brought only one meltdown a day from Kylie which is a VAST improvement over Monday to Friday! I think it is also helping that we're getting some mommy/daughter time for the first 20 to 30 minutes after Caleb goes down for naps.
Looks like sunny skies are here again! (Running in the backyard with Maya).

Hey, we have John Deere gummies too! I thought they were odd when I first saw them as well. And Abby is the one who likes them.

I'll be honest, I have never heard of John Deere gummies, but they sound rather interesting to say the least. How did it go with Ian's project? I hope everything went smoothly.

It sounds like everyone, including kylie is starting to really adjust to your new normal. Can't wait to hear when Ian is in the mix on regular basis again, I know it will be a great day for all of you!

Hi Kristi, I haven't followed you're blog close enough. Did you guys go to China again? Forgive my ignorance. I'm sure you have it posted all over your blog, but it's hard for me to get to it with Gracie. She doesn't like me to be on e-mail. tee hee. Kylie looks like she is doing great! It's so nice to see how other families from our travel group are doing. Thanks for staying in touch! Joyce
