Lunchtime laughter & clothing opinions

Just before lunch today Kylie had found a Toddler macaroni and cheese in the diaper bag and kept holding it up while signing please. I decided that it was easier and quicker than fixing a pb & j, so macaroni and green beans it was. She consumed the macaroni with gusto! In fact she only missed one noodle that fell off the spoon, rolled off her leg, and hit the chair that her booster seat is on ~ yes, she's outgrown the highchair...

I called Maya over to clean up the chair because apparently I had lost my mind and decided to eat with an 18 month old with no napkins in reach. Maya eagerly made the errant noodle disappear (she's been on a bit of a diet since we realized that she gained 7 pounds during Kylie's first 6 months here) and Kylie was fascinated! As Maya began to walk away, Kylie started squealing, "Miiaa, mere!" ("Maya come here" for those of you not fluent in Kylese) and pointed to her leg. Kylie's booster has her legs up over Maya's eye level, so Maya had no idea why Kylie had called her back. When she was about to walk away again, Kylie grabbed her snout and tried to pull her up to the cheese sauce on her leg. Maya tried to lick what she could smell, but couldn't reach and the frustration in both of their eyes was enough to get me rolling!

Once the pasta was gone, Kylie focused her attention on the green beans. (By the way, just for grins I put a small handful of still frozen peas on the top of the bowl. She ate them with excitement ~ go figure that she hates them when cooked). She then noticed the Intel man toy and politely signed to have it. After I passed him over, she showed her kind side and offered him some green beans. It was way too funny!!!

"I tried to offer my company some food Mommy! I can't help it if he doesn't like green beans ~ so I'll just finish them all myself!"

Lunch was followed by a long nap. I managed to get the guest room (which has become the catch-all for any messes that need to be put behind closed doors...) straightened up and do two loads of laundry! When Kylie woke up we got ready to go over to Mom's to visit with my aunt and uncle who are in from Ohio. She's becoming quite opinionated about what she wears all the sudden. One of the two shirts below threw her into hysterics ~ so loud that Ian came out of his office downstairs to check what was going on ~ and the crying continued after she had it on.

Any guesses which shirt brought the storm and which one returned sunny skies?

So I did what any astonished mom did, went to her closet, grabbed another shirt that would look cute with the jeans she was wearing, and asked her if she would rather wear this. She immediately stopped crying and said, "dis" so we changed shirts and the storm was over. Wow, I had NO IDEA that the clothing blues would be hitting at 18 months...

Welcome to my world, sister! I'm gettin' all kinds of opinions over here! Miss C has this somewhat hilarious way of waving off whatever - or whomever - she doesn't want at the moment. She's workin' the princess angle a little too much, eh? And don't you love how they can turn it on and off?

With all the specific desires Kylie has now, it amazes me that her mommy and daddy can figure out exactly what she wants. They are so clever - I would be at a loss over how to satisfy her. It is so exciting to see her personality emerge. She is such an interesting little person.

Her meals are always fun. Sharing the food with her toys is something I haven't seen, yet. Isn't she polite! haha
I bought her hand made, pull toy recently from an elderly gentleman. He had a gorilla, grasshopper and a duck. I wasn't sure which to buy. Kristi said hold them up and Kylie would show me which one she wanted...I thought, sure she will, Mommy. Well, I have to "eat" my thought, Mommy, because without a moments hesitation, Kylie pointed to the duck and said "dis". So much for my underestimating her!
